The Get Out the Vote Rally is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin.

The event, called an “area-wide Faith, Freedom and Prosperity Rally” will feature local political candidates, including keynote speeches from U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tyler) and state Rep. candidate James White. Republican Party of Texas Vice-Chair Melinda Fredricks will be featured as a special guest.

It’s a rally to pump up the troops and our conservative folks throughout the East Texas area to get out for early voting on Oct. 18,” said Lee Miller, White’s campaign manager. “It’s a good place for people who have never been involved in politics to come out and get some information on how they can get more involved in political action.”

The event is also set to educate the public on their Democratic candidate options as well.
“One of the main purposes for the rally is to inform the people in our area that Bill White, running for governor, and Jim McReynolds, running for state representative, are Washington, connected at the hip, Democrats,” Robert Flournoy, Angelina County Republican Chair, stated in a press release. “An underlying theme of this event is ‘You Can Run, but You Can’t Hide.’ This is a reference to those that I mentioned always running from their political connections, when in reality their voting records show their true colors as liberal Democrats that are against East Texas conservative values.”

The public is invited to attend the event and admission is free. For more information, visit AngelinaGOP.org or call (936) 634-1979.
